Wayne West

Candidate for Grand Island Town Council

I am proud to have been a Grand Island resident and homeowner for over 30 years.

What was meant to be a three-to-five year commitment through a job transfer evolved into a lifetime commitment to the community where I raised a family, worked, and have contributed in any capacity where I might apply my knowledge and skills.

As a retired military officer with over 26 years of service to our country, I have decided it is the right moment to turn my focus to protecting and serving the needs of the people of Grand Island.

Put simply, I want to be a part of making things happen for our town.

Far too often there are good intentions, but no follow-through. As a result, projects have stalled and opportunities for progress lost.

It is time to hold people accountable for what is expected of them, time for zoning to match real-world proposals, and, most of all, time to ensure that our community’s best interests are at the forefront of the decision-making process.

I have been able to build trust with my clients in my role as a realtor, helping others navigate the biggest financial decision that they will make in their lives. It was my pleasure to collaborate with the Golden Age Center to bring the cost saving and point reduction workshops as an Instructor and Zone Manager for the AARP driver safety program.

My drive, determination, and experience have compelled me to find solutions where others look only for excuses.

At the center of my values model are honesty, integrity, and selfless service.

These values, coupled with trustworthiness and a passion for making a great community even greater, are the reasons why I’m the best choice for this position.

I look forward to earning your vote for the Grand Island Town Council on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
